City to discuss gun ban on "Public Property"
« on: January 19, 2011, 09:20:52 AM »
My local City Council has scheduled discussion at today's meeting on making public property gun free zones.  I guess I have a Council Meeting to attend.
I love waking up every morning knowing that Donald Trump is President!!

You didn't get pre-emption in the new state law?

Public BUILDINGS are one thing, public property (roads, parking lots, sidewalks, etc.) are quite another.

It took KS a couple amendments to get it right.  But you can only ban CCW INSIDE buildings or access-controlled parking lots, and then state buildings have to follow same signage requirement as private buildings.

Apparently I was not the only one to contact their Council representative on this issue.  They decided there was NO WAY they wanted to bring down the shitstorm they saw coming, based upon citizen comments before the meeting.

Chalk up one for common sense.

Don't turn your back or drop your guard.  They may just try to do it in executive session.

Chalk one up for cowardice not common sense. If they had any common sense the subject would never have come up.

Didn't Iowa just pass a milestone bit of legislation? The "may" issue, went to "shall" issue? I guess the anti's will fight to the last.....

Remind the criminals about the "gun-free zones" they are usually the most compliant.

Please bring the following vid, or forward to all pertinent folks.

Lest we forget...

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
