It just seems to make sense.  If you can legally posses firearms, you should be able to carry them as you wish.

That is the direction all states need to head. 

Eliminates all the cost and hassle for issuing permits, both for the citizens and the government.

It also renders the "Public Access to Permit Holders Database" debate moot.

Good news! And better news tat you kept the traditional permits as an option. I'd hate to lose the right to carry in Wyo. due to reciprocity concerns. I hope other sates follow suite, but also keep an optional permit system, we aren't at 50 states yet, but we are getting there.

Which of course reminds me that my permit expires in July, so I guess I better get with the program and get it renewed.

Honestly though, I think that this was smart on 2 levels. Criminals are not going to get a permit, and most people in this state have a gun close by all the time anyway. It's just a way of life. So this simply makes legal something that most people are already doing anyway.

FQ, Alaska, and all the States that recently adopted "Constitutional Carry" have permits optional for reciprocity purposes.
The only ones shafted are Vermonters since that state just plain does not regulate CCW.

So it is a done deal and it becomes effective 7/1/11.

There is one rather (IMHO) disturbing WTF that I don't understand.

Actually, they are legally right to exclude it. It comes back to that right and privilege thing.
Driving is a privilege, conditional upon obeying set safety regulations.
The 2A is a Constitutionally specified right, while complying with safety rules is a very good idea the Constitution does not make it a condition of exercising your civil rights.
