Source of "Vote Early and Often"

The cynical phrases "Vote early -- and often" and "Vote early -- and vote often" are variously attributed to three different Chicagoans: Al Capone, the famous gangster; Richard J. Daley, mayor from 1955 to 1976; and William Hale Thompson, mayor from 1915-1923 and 1931-1935. All three were notorious for their corruption and their manipulation of the democratic process. It is most likely that Thompson invented the phrase, and Capone and Daley later repeated it.

What'chu talkin' 'bout, Willis? ?  ? In Chicago, the intent is still very real, and still most literal. Vans collect the willing and drive them from precinct to precinct where they are moto-voter registered and vote. Also, the dead do come alive and vote as well. If Chicago had a US Prosecutor worth his salt, all sorts of zombie votes could be found. But Daley is given a pass on just about everything these days. Too bad. He is one guy I would love to see stammering along doing the perp walk.

They'd have to build a new cell in the "political VIP wing" at Joliet. One governor, another on the way and hopefully a mayor. Its as bad as the Palm Beach County Commision with three convictions. :P

Thompson, Capone, and Daley were dead serious when they used the phrase.
FQ, I'm not sure, but I think your count of Ill. VIP convicts is low by at least 1 Gov. Blagoiyavich is going, the one before him went, I think the one before him went as well.
Were there any busted in yesterday's big Mafia sweep ?

On topic, I have to say that making the socialists publicly defend Obummercare is a good way to keep their arrogance alive in the minds of the voters, however considering their short attention span I think they should have waited till next year.
Another good idea would be to make next year about immigration. Be kind of awkward for the Dems to kiss up to unemployed Americans on one hand while defending illegals waving Mexican flags and chanting "f*ck America" on the other.

Was born in Chicago, lived there a couple of years after that till mom and dad  moved to Hamilton, OH...known as Little Chicago at the time.

Most of my relatives live there and they all seemed to love Mayor Daley Sr..  Have to say the city is better run than Detroit.

Haven't been back to visit in 15 years, so I don't know if they love Mayor Daley Jr. as much.

Do they still have a Voter Registration Office and Polling Place at every cemetery in the city?

Good point, look at Mogadishu today, they have a thriving piracy business. My guess is that their unemployment rate is less than Detroit.  :P
