I'll throw this out there for comments.
When Romney re-adopted the AWB in 2004 for the state of MA, they didn't completely outlaw extended mags or as they call them, Hi Capacity, but rather accepted those that were already here from 1994. They COULD have managed to ban ALL extended capacity above and beyond 10 rounders which would have taken even more equipment out of the hands of the law abiding citizens in the state.
My daughters Sig carries 13 round mags as standard but it was a 16 year old gun when she bought it. If she loses a mag or damages one, she can't replace it legally unless she finds one at a gun show that pre-dates the AWB date of 1994. Imagine her predicament if that happened. At some point, her "cute little pistol" becomes a paperweight.....
No, compromises are not the answer. Education and discussion outside the purview of the media at an early stage in life, in other words, get back to the days when common sense prevailed and stupidity and ignorance took a back seat.
