It Happens to the Best of Them
« on: January 26, 2011, 07:44:12 PM »
Just reading the latest Front Sight about all the mishaps at the latest USPSA matches....national matches.

I'm sorry people had trouble, but it does make me feel better that the "experts", the pros have their problems.  A double charge blew up one gun.  A missing primer knock one revolver shooter out of contention.   A squib charge left a bullet half out the end of the barrel.    And Michlak was using his backup gun, because of problems.

These people spend lots of time preparing for these matches.  Double, even triple checking their ammo, cleaning/turning their guns (or having their sponsor's "pro shop" do it for them), not to mention the hundreds of thousands of rounds they put down range each year.  I may be  a middle to lower class shooter, but I don't have to be ashamed of my problems.  They happen even among the best.

"Amateurs train until they get it right, professionals train until they cannot get it wrong.  Amateurs train until they get it right, professionals train no more than they are paid to."
E. Charles

Than there is:

Equip./ammo, component failure
, kinda a monkey wrench of reality that just throws everything to Murphy's law.

Your "x" thousand dollar, sponsor inspected, tweaked and freaked, custom firearm is still prone to bad ammo, bad "something"......

I too am sorry they had problems, it leads to better components and ammo, for us "average" non-pro shooters.

and keeps them on their toes,.....

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.
