For Veteran's Day: A vet who understands the enemy we face

President Obama this week once again called Islam "a great religion" which has been "distorted" by a small number of "extremists" to justify committing acts of violence against the West.

But the Qur'an (or Koran) itself, the holy book of Islam, contains over 100 verses calling for violence against Christians and Jews. To give just one example, Sura 9:5 says, "Slay the idolaters wherever you find them."

During a panel discussion sponsored by the Hudson Institute last January, retired Army Lt. Colonel Allen West, who did combat duty in Iraq, responded to a Marine who asked the question, how do you answer people who say that terrorists are following a "warped" version of Islam?

The panel consisted of a number of former military personnel, who fumbled around trying to answer the question. Col. West finally stepped forward answered the question directly and truthfully. Listen to the words of a former military man who understands the nature of the enemy we face:



Notice again Col. West's straightforward assessment: "This is not a perversion. They are doing exactly what this book (i.e., the Qur'an) says."

Col. West, by the way, was elected last week to Congress, to represent Florida's 22nd congressional district. He will be the first African-American Republican congressman to represent Florida since 1870.

I've watched and listened to the Lt. Col. for some time.  Except for the fact that he is really very little known outside of Florida, he appears to be a wise leader and an honest man.  With the proper team behind him, he could indeed become a viable candidate.  Most of what I have heard from him has been exactly on target.  But after the disaster we are currently experiencing, do you think America is ready for another go for a man of color in the White House?  I believe Odamna has set race relations in this country back about 50 years.  Not making a judgement on the Lt. Col.'s run, just offering a thought.

Problem is the guy's a bit of a nut job and runs with the wrong crowd. He represents the district I SHOULD be in if it weren't for racial gerrymandering. >:(v Don't get me wrong, I'd have voted for him for Congress. But he associates with the Outlaws motorcycle gang (think Hell's Angel's lite, just don't say it to their face ) even going so far as to hire them for security. Now, as a hell raiser on the Hill, I wish him God speed. But as President? Not so much. Still, he has it right on guns and Islam and that's a good thing.

And, yes, they can be intimidating…which is exactly how they should be.  More importantly, that is how all Americans (except, of course, the Left) should want them to be.  Here’s why:

The Leathernecks are not outlaws and, more specifically, they are not the Outlaws. [If they were, it is a safe bet there would not be any video footage alleging that the cameraman was thrown out "bodily."]

What is even more pathetic about Ron Klein and the Left’s attempt at assassinating Allen West’s character is that Ron Klein didn’t seem to have any trouble having his photo taken with the Leathernecks.  Of course, that was before he considered them “outlaws.”

As I said TW, I'd have voted for the guy in a heartbeat (and not just to vote against Klein, who was awful), but I don't see the guy as POTUS material, at least not yet. As far as the Outlaws? Maybe the Palm Beach Post had it wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.

If nothing else, a Gingrich/BHO POTUS debate would be fantastic to watch. Newt would shred BHO in a debate forum. With THE FACTS, although, I don't think Newt is a viable candidate, could be...
