Look on the bright side. If he's mayor, he's stuck in Chicago. If he was DQd he'd be running for Burris' Senate seat where he would be a danger to all of us. Sorry WTR, but you guys are on your own here. ;D

Because Boss Tweed stayed in NY and Michael Curley stayed in Boston .

Back when TR was getting started in NY state Politics one of the city politicians would sit in the lobby of one of the then famous hotels one day a week with an open satchel beside his chair. Any one who wanted anything would walk by and drop an envelope of cash into the satchel.
I forget the names, or party affiliation, (probably Dems since they have always been the power in NY ) but it was the origin of the term "Bag man".
