Para GI Issues ?
« on: February 09, 2011, 07:51:39 PM »
I have squirreling away a few $$ here and there and working some O.T. to purchace a 1911 this year. Iwent to my local gun shop last saturday to check on the availibilty of the Para GI expert in stainless steel. The owner of the shop told me to stay the heck away from the Para line of 1911s as they are nothing but junk. He said the extractor would not last the first 50 rounds I put through it, my extra 1911 mags would not work in them I would have to buy para mags once I had the gun runing if it could even be made to do so. I thought Para USA made a top quaility product.  Could anyone here advise about any issues with the GI Expert if there is indeed and problems with it.

        Thanks Conagher.

I would say he knows not of what he speaks...Para's are great pistols and will stand behind them if you shold have a problem. Just ask Todd Jarrett  ;)

Sounds like something someone would say if they weren't a stocking Para dealer.  Did he offer to show you another brand that he had in stock?

Went looking for the 1,000 round challenge video but could not find it.
Have to agree with Majer, most "gun shop guy's" don't know their ass from an ASP.
(Extra points for any one who does remember the ASP.  ;D  )

The ASP was a cut down S&W 39 in 9mm it had clear grips so you could see the number of rounds in the magazine it also had a "Gutter snipe" sighting system that was very fast if used correctly. It was designed by a former OSS agent if memory serves me correctly.

Now, what did I win?

Tried to talk me into a Springfield R.O. which was not in his shop stock either.

I really like the Para G.I. Expert ESP in the S.S. finish. But I would take one in the Para-Cote finish if I could get it a little cheaper.

I was thinking of the ASP baton too.
