Got a call today from Ruger
« on: March 03, 2008, 04:21:16 PM »
Had this nagging question that needed answering so when I got home from work this morning I called Ruger's and asked them about +P ammo in the new LCP and the nice lady transferred me to a person that could answer my question but Joe I forgot his last name was not at his desk so I left a polite message and about noon fell asleep. Come 4:00 wifey wakes me up holding he phone and its "Joe" calling me back and says NO a steady diet of +P ammo is not a good idea and that SAMMI spc ammo is best for the little gun and that they had put some Core Bon through it and tuned out to be quite a handful, yes the slide barrel are made out of steel but a steady diet would be a no no and recommended that for personal protection tat you use Federal Hydra shocks and that's just for those purposes only to go to the range and ring it out SAMMI only. So that he news I got from Ruger today. Hey anybody see my pillow?

Isn't it fun to deal with companies that care about the customer.  If have had overall good success with every shooting equipment company I've talked to.

For a real fun time call Burris and talk to Tom Kelly about optics.  However, don't do it unless you have time!

Today I called Smith and Wesson for a couple of parts I needed.  They could help me with one, but the other is restricted, meaning that the only way to get it is to send the gun in and let them install.  I think the rep on the other end of the line was more upset than me.  He offered to help with shipping, but when I gave him the time frame I needed he suggested companies to get aftermarket parts from.  About an hour later I got a follow up call from someone else to see how things had gone, because they found that an order had been started and then cancelled.  They just wanted to see what had happened and appologized for not being able to help.

Speaking of companys that are great to deal with. I had a problem with a Caldwell H.A.M.M.R. Bought it in 6/07 from MIDWAY USA. Had a problem with a part on it. That was today, now you would think that there might be a problem in having to pay for a part on something I purchased last year. NOPE! They sent the part out free of charge and didn't want the old one back. This isn't the only time they went out of their way to satisfy me. Great company to deal with. Its good to see that they are a part of DRTV.

Got to admit to "Old Guy Brain Fade."  Tom Kelly works for Smith and Wesson, and is great to talk to.  Can't remember the guy's name from Burris, but he is a blast.  I think they found him wondering around Pike's Peak with an old Coke bottle he'd  made into a scope.  The guy never did quit laughing when I told him the glass in my Speed Dot 135 was rattling after three shots on the 500.  He even asked me if Tom Kelly had told me it would work.  When I told him that Tom had told me that is what he had used on his 500 in a Brown Bear hunt (I saw it televised and called Tom about the optic), he asked me if Tom told me how it fell apart after they got home.  When I said no, he started to laugh rather hard and long and said that Tom always leaves that part out.

Short story long ... this is how I got a brand new, Burris full warrenty replacement, Speed Dot 135 on my .22 pistol.

Yep dealing with gun company is a whole lot easier than dealing with other industries , my Super Redhawk had developed a bad problem after about 150,000 or do rounds and I called them up and told them how many rounds and that most of them were handloads and the nice lady told me to send it in . After 2 weeks I got it back with a half a page of fixes listed and the bottom  NO CHARGE, and they did not touch my trigger work! I've wore out my Dillion press and dies and they replace everything brand new and this was five years after the initial purchase and to this day 20 years  later if something dreams they send me the parts at no cost. I recently moved and contacted Dish satellite and they upgraded mt to a DVR system and told me to just leave everything  as I would be getting new equipment so I did @ months layer they want the boxes back course I don't have them so I try to get them back with no avail and I relay this info back to Dish and they now say no one told me to not send them back and that I should have sent them back in the supplied shipping boxes . What shipping boxes I ask, the ones that we will send you tomorrow about that time my grip is indented in the phone, well never got  the boxes and the whacked my account 300 bucks! plus I had to buy a new phone cuz crushed ones don't work to good!

Gman,

I know what you mean.  In general calling up a gun MFG or dealer is a JOY.  People who actually care and want your business.
