Flatgate Single Six

Just picked up this old Flatgate Single Six off of another forum.  Very pleased with it.  I had one years ago, and had to sell it, and have wanted another ever since.  This one does not have the plumb color like my other one did, but it is in good condition, and shoot good too!

What were the mfg dates of the 'flat gate"?  I have never seen one even at a shop!  Sure is purty!  Is it like the three screw and does not have transfer safety and makes that cool multiple click when cocking?

From 1953 to early 1957.  It does not have the transfer bar, it has never been converted.  And yes, it has the four clicks when cocked.

I have one Ruger 3 screw Single Six, but it is not that old.  Mine had the conversion done before I purchased it, and just my preference I wish it hadn't.

While I can understand the reasoning for the transfer bar safety and why Ruger did it, the manufacturing change and the conversion remove Darwin from the Ruger fan club

From 1953 to early 1957.  It does not have the transfer bar, it has never been converted.  And yes, it has the four clicks when cocked.

Currently own a Flattop .357 old model, a convertable .357/9mm old model, a .41 Mag old model, and the Flatgate.  Used to own a bunch more, but sold some over the years.  Wish I had em all back!

Never shot a .41.  It seems to me to be a cartridge that was just too late.  The .357 and .44 have it bracketed so it had no real chance of gaining ground.  Seems like it would be a great round but sadly will never be popular.

.41Mag is like the 10 MM, a cult classic that will never take over the market, but is unlikely to ever go away completely.
Kind of the "Rocky horror Picture Show" of hand guns.
