New (to me) Don Hume holster
« on: February 15, 2011, 11:47:06 PM »
My el cheapo, but much loved Galco finally crapped out on me as some of the stitching was worn. It had no structural integrity, was hard to reholster and the gun would fallout if you weren't careful on the john. That said, its was extremley comfortable, you'd forget you were wearing it. I decided to udgrade. I bought a Don Hume IWB for $25 on Ebay (I have a pocket holster following it I liked it so well). I love this thing. Its built like a tank, made of great leather and you can hold it upside down and shake it and still get good retention. It reholsters smoothly and draws one handed very nicely without any "stickiness" that I was afraid of with a tighter holster. Mikey likes it. I'd reccomend taking a look at one.

Yep! and proud of it. Seriously, if you just race out and buy a holster new you are an idiot. They are a very personal thing. Everyone of us has gone through several. They wind up on ebay for about half price or less all the time. Always look there first. I bought two for less than the price of one new one, and I didn't look all that long either.

Oh how soon we forget.  E-bay and Paypal are extremely anti-gun. But that doesn't mean much to you, so sad!  (sarcasm hat ridin' high)!

I paid by check, so there! As far as ebay, if they don't want the liability of selling guns, that's their call, but paypal just sucks. I won't use it.

So it's ok to do business with an Anti? Who do you think owns Paypal?

It's your choice, and I agree it's a great price. But doing business with Ebay is like supporting the Brady Campaign and George Soros with one transaction!

I won't ague the point with you. Because all I know about ebay is that they won't sell guns, but will sell other fireams stuff like holsters and optics so I figured they can't be all that anti. Paypal used to work on gunbroker, but now won't so I'm annoyed with them. I've gotten some good deals on a lot of stuff from ebay, so unless they are writing checks to the Brady Bunch I'll deal with them. I hope that's not the case.

I own a couple or three Don Hume holsters. One in particular, is a great leather IWB, for my PPK/S. Wears well in shorts, and even on swamp hot days, has held up.

The other is a IWB for my M85 snub, and a full size 1911 OWB rig when I could open carry while living in NC.

I've purchased and sold a couple of gun access., antiques, etc,.. on ebay. No problems, if the price is right, why pay more than you have to?

I have a few composite OWB holsters but I use this for both my carry guns IWB. Have used the same style for years. Roger Phillips, AKA "sweaten Bullets" turned me on to these and they are great.
