It's always sad to see the BEST of our young give so much, so soon, and then end up like this. As a former EMT/Paramedic and LEO, my heart goes out to her family. So sad, and so young!

Military and Public Safety funerals are tough, but with young people like this young lady and others like her there is hope. 

There are those that stand by and allow others to do for them.
Then there are those who cannot and must act
Stand down sister, we have the watch


The Watch (modified slightly)

For seventeen years
This protector has stood the watch
While some of us were in our bunks at night
This sailor stood the watch

While some of us were in school learning our trade
This shipmate stood the watch

Yes.. even before some of us were born into this world
This shipmate stood the watch

In those years when the storm clouds of disaster were seen brewing on the horizon of history
This shipmate stood the watch

Many times she would cast an eye ashore and see her family standing there
Needing her guidance and help
Needing that hand to hold during those hard times
But she still stood the watch

She stood the watch for seventeen years
She stood the watch so that we, our families and
Our fellow countrymen could sleep soundly in safety, Each and every night
Knowing that a protector stood the watch

Today we are here to say
'Shipmate... the watch stands relieved
Relieved by those You have trained ,Guided, and Lead
Shipmate you stand relieved.. we have the watch..."

"Boatswain..Standby to pipe the side...Shipmate's going Ashore.."

Typicall read at a Navy retirement ceremony as the retiring Sailor is departing for the final time.
