While I will concede several of Quaker's points about colleges in general, I would also note specifically that Columbia has a history of inviting upstanding citizens like Mahmoud Ahm-a-crazy-lad to address the student body while affording said speakers great respect and defference. 

This particular institution of higher learning has devolved into a cesspool of intolerance for anything even slightly conservative.  They have booed speakers off the dais when those speakers challenged their preconceived notions of a leftist paradise. 

If Columbia and all its staff and student body happened to be swallowed by a sinkhole, it would improve the average IQ of the surrounding area for at least a fifty-mile radius.  And it would do at least as much to advance the concept of tolerance.

With a son in the Marines, a nephew who served as a combat Marine in Iraq, a father that served in WW II  (Screaming Eagles) and an Uncle that died on Saipan (USMC), I agree and will help fund to ship them asap. It really PO's me when kids/students who were born with a silver spoon in their mouths have forgotten how many fought and how many died so they have the freedoms they have and the right to attend colummunist univ. and other so called universities to get their so called higher education (which is debatable).
