Hodgdon H-335 For The .223 ?

Who's done it, and what kind of luck have you had with it? I just picked up an 8 pound jug this morning over at Bruno's, to load a $h!tload of 55 Grain FMJ .223 loads. This stuff is pretty common in .223 loads but I've never loaded it. The chart on the front of the jug says 25.3 Grains of it under a 55 Grain FMJ will spit it out at 3,203 FPS. It's supposed to flow through a measure like greased lightning. Just wondering what kind of luck you guys have had with it? I'm hearing it's a bit pressure and temperature sensitive, but have no experience with it to call.   Bill T.

I use it. Extremely accurate. Only powder better in my guns  is WW748.  It measures great. Enjoy.

I have used H-335 quite a bit in my .223 bolt guns for years now with very good results, if you use it be especially aware of your bullet pull and do keep it good and tight if you are not using cannulered bullets....personally I prefer Hogdon BLC-(2) have had best results with this powder especially on the upper end of the safe spectrum.
here's an example of why I switched to the BL-C(2)  please ignore the charge weight listed as this was a very hot load in my rifle but man it shot well...afterthis i started buying the 8lb kegs of it.
300 yards .634" measured outside to outside group...can't do it everyday, but that load is a real crowbuster out to this distance in my old wood stocked Remington 700BDL Varminter...and before I forget to add....that is not a three round group but there are five holes in that paper.

I use it as well with my bolt action.   Haven't seen the need to try another powder.  Don't know if I have the chrono on it.

Hard question.   I've only shot it out outdoors so I can't comment on the amount of smoke out the muzzle.  And since I'm shooting in a bolt action, all "yuk" is in the barrel.  I've never noticed the barrel to be particularly dirty.   Well, yeah, with the bolt action that isn't a concern as much as it is with a semi-auto.
