I just picked up a used SIG P226 from a guy on another board for cheap. Night sights and 5 mags for under $550 ain't bad. Especially with a serpa for good measure. It's dated from 1995 with a stamped slide so it's, I'm told by those on the SIG forum, one of the best generations of P series. The only complaint I have are the Hogue Grips. I'm just not a fan. So if any body has a pair of original grips that would fit they don't need let me know maybe I can send you some bucks for them. I would love to get it back as original as possible.

I was just reading about an issue concerning the trigger bar spring under the right grip panel actually eating through frame.
"The first problem is that as you can see in the picture, it "eats" through the frame as it rotates in the hole when you pull the trigger.  I have a well-used P226 where it has actually eaten its way well into the magazine release button backplate."

Has anyone had this happen on an older 226 and should I take any kind of pre-emptive action on this?

Pulled the right grip panel of my 226 to check. Nothing bad - no hole enlargement/elongation AT ALL.
Best info I can find is that the slide was proofed in Germany in 1990. (KA on slide)

It has seen thousands of rounds down the tube over the years and will see thousands more. The first 5 years I owned this 226, I don't think any but the most practiced competition shooter would have shot more. Enjoy yours - for that price you stole it!

Maybe Sig had some soft slides get through that started the whole hole thing?

Having 4 Sigs, a 220, 226 and 2 ea 229s i have never had trouble with wear on the grips but i have had trigger springs break 3 times and slide release spring on the 220 twice. I am currently well stocked with a supply of springs from Brownells.

I picked up a used SIG 250 compact 9mm today. Was kind of a last minute thing. I can to the conclusion that the majority of complaints with the 250 other than the failure issues in older ones was the long reset on the sweeping DAO trigger. But after fondling a few S&W revolvers I realized it's the same concept. Unlike the Glocks, M&Ps and such the SIG has a long pull trigger that is exceptionally light. So I picked it up. Came with 4 total magazines and a leather belt holster. According to the SIG catalog it's the same size as the 229. So now I really want a 229. DANNNNGGGGIIIIITTTTT! I can't afford any more SIGS!!!!!!!!!

I don't have any grips but I bought some a while back from top gun shooting supplies, factory Sig plastic grips and they were only like $10-$12.
