South Carolina, land of FREEDOM!
« on: March 02, 2011, 04:51:35 PM »
Been absent for a while, so this may well have already been discussed, but South Carolina actually passed a law saying ANYONE who can legally own a gun, and is over 21 can conceal carry without even having to get a permit!

WHOO HOOO!!!   ;D

FREEDOM IS A WONDERFULL THING!!!

I guess the logic of "Do you really think the criminals carrying guns are applying for permits???" finally got through the right heads.

Pass the word, and try to get your states thinking / doing the same!  :)

The Colorado House recently passed a similar bill.  It still has to get through the Senate and the Governor (D).  Conventional wisdom gives it about a 50/50 chance.

Be sure and wear your boots from now on, as we all know that there will be blood flowing in the streets of South Carolina.   ::)

I guess the Brady bunch has been so busy with their love fest of bHO they've totally missed sending out any "warnings" about this one.

YES.

The good news is prior to this SC did not recognize the GA CCWs.   Cool, now I'll be legal when I visit the "family" there.

There is a similar bill moving in UT, but I think it only covers residents (I think it's the same for SC).

Wyoming passed their constitutional carry bill and the Governor signed it on Wednesday. Again, the news report I saw said it was for residents of their state. Clarification?

Only one potential problem that I see.  There are other states, like Iowa, that will honor any other state's carry permits.  However, if your state doesn't issue permits, you can't carry if you visit Iowa.  And for those who depend upon reciprocity agreements, not having a permit system negates the possibility of reciprocity.

Hence the reason AZ and AK still offer permits, but don't require them for residents who carry in-state.
I love waking up every morning knowing that Donald Trump is President!!

TT, as I posted to FQ in another thread,

Alaska, and all the States that recently adopted "Constitutional Carry" have permits optional for reciprocity purposes.
The only ones shafted are Vermonters since that state just plain does not regulate CCW.
I do not know if SC has followed suit, I was going to ask BM about that.
BM, consider yourself asked.  ;D Will SC still provide optional permits for those who want to be able to carry out of state?
