This is not an anti LEO post, this is a post revealing how careful ANY firearm owner must be if there are young children in the house.

First time I’ve ever heard of a police officer—or anyone else—being charged after a child gets a hold of an improperly stored firearm and causes a negligent discharge leading to their death. I approve. You?

An out of reach firearm is not a properly secured firearm, In this day and age there are plenty of quick access / biometric safes around to store handguns in. Especially if you have kiddlies.
I some how think that even if he is found guilty and given a custodial sentence it will be nothing compared to what he has to live with every day.

Truly a tragedy that the couple will never recover from.  Could things have been done differently?  No doubt.  Unless PA has specific laws relating to gun storage, I think they should leave couple alone and let their story serve as an example to others.

The reporting had a very anti-gun undertone to it:  OMG!  He had three handguns!  And 700 rounds of ammunition!  Why on earth would you need such an arsenal?  Truly a dangerous wild man!

A guy I used to work with strangled his mother in law. Killed her with his bare hands, and the local news made a big deal about how many guns he had in his house.  ???  As if the guns made him dangerous. Biased "reporting" happens all the time.
