Got a chance to pick up a Ruger LCP tomorrow
« on: March 05, 2008, 07:15:00 PM »
My local gun shop owner just e-mailed me saying his first shipment comes in tomorrow and no one's reserved any yet. Michael's video review likely sealed the deal for me. I'll let you know if I pull the trigger on it (pun intended).

Marshal posted last week that Ruger was shipping. My shop has 24 on order, they are expecting the first batch tomorrow or Friday latest.

I want to hear a range report :)

And (if ya don'y mind) going price.  I would really like someone with a KelTek to shoot and compare, (handling, slide pull when loading, carry feel etc).

My shop said they'll be selling for $290 on a $330 MSRP. I handled the Kel-Tek, did not like the feel, the machined bumps on the plastic handle mainly. Tiny little gun too, very light, very thin, almost too small for my girlie hands. It will be interesting to see it next to the LCP.

In my opinion, if you are only going to carry 6 or 7 rounds in a pocket pistol then it darn well better be in .357 mag. Taurus makes a few nice and inexpensive J-Frame sized .357s. Or you could always opt for 10+1 rounds of 9mm+P with the easy to carry Glock 26. I'd hate to ever have to shoot some one with a .380.

Yeah, as someone once said, if the target ever found out you shot him, he'd be really pissed!!

 ;D

Still, I bought one, as MB said a good backup piece and useful when walking the dog. More rounds than the Bond derringer - unless you count each of the 5 pellets from each of the 2 .410 shells - but then I want one of those too. Oh well.
