I like how Steve Martin put when he said, "Some people have a way with words. Some people ... no have way." We're a generation of have nots.
""It may be laid down as a primary position, and the basis of our system, that every Citizen who enjoys the protection of a free Government, owes not only a proportion of his property, but even his personal services to the defence of it, and consequently that the Citizens of America (with a few legal and official exceptions) from 18 to 50 Years of Age should be borne on the Militia Rolls, provided with uniform Arms, and so far accustomed to the use of them, that the Total strength of the Country might be called forth at a Short Notice on any very interesting Emergency." - George Washington. Letter to Alexander Hamilton, Friday, May 02, 1783

Outstanding

Thanks Haz,

It is simply amazing how inarticulate the American populous has become.  I find myself constantly dumbing down my speech patterns to an audience that may need a thesaurus to understand me.  I have a high school education though I did attend college classes for a time.  It is nothing out of the ordinary, nothing too complex, nothing that requires matriculation at a higher level!

It's the English language for goodness sake.

I also type the way I speak..... ;D ;D

I kin get real stupider ifn' ya wanna get thar too...

When speaking, I really love to use antiquated and sometimes arcane words......it catches most folks off guard, but maybe it makes a few think from time to time.  ;D
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

I really enjoy making up a word or two that sound genuine but aren't.  I call it the Norm Crosby trick!

It's really a gas when one of my colleagues uses my "word" in a sentence during a presentation or something.  I sit in the back and snicker under my breath at the idiot....keep in mind, I work, for the most part, with folks with at least four years of higher education.  Unfortunately, engineers are only required three credit hours in English or composition...

 ;D ;D ;D

I love Norm.  He and others started me on my love of English and having fun with it.

YOU (and I) are OLD as we remember who Norm was!

I used the word "serendipitous" in a sentence today while working and I got some looks from people in the gun shop.

Only a man wearing Scrabble on his shirt so clearly command us to, popular or not, say it with authority and like we mean it.
