I got REFORM for ya.

First we repeal:

The Firearms Act of 1920
The Firearms and Imitation Firearms (Criminal Use) Act, 1933
The Firearms Act of 1934
The Firearms Act of 1936
The Firearms Act of 1968
The Handgun Control Act of 1981
and all subsequent acts based on, altering, amending, extending or clarifying  these acts.

Then we return BATFE to a tax collection agency.  (Actually, just repeal anything being enforce by BATFE, we don't need to tax A & T that much.)

Transfer the F & E portion back to the FBI where it was and should be.

OKAY, I'm now ready to seek agreement on gun reforms.  What does Obama have to offer?

Will work for ammo

That is a good one!

If you want to drive an Anti nuts answer their question with a question:  When they ask why you "need" to have a certain gun or if you think you should be allowed to own A, B or C, ask them why you shouldn't be allowed to have them.  Don't let them off with "times have changed," "government has changed," "the world has changed," etc.  They can not get off their talking points, and most can not handle that the Second Amendment is not about hunting.

So Pres. BHO, why shouldn't I be able to have any firearm manufactured or be able to modify my firearms as I see fit?
If I appear taller than other men it is because I am standing on the shoulders of others.

The liberal definition of bi-partisan is;  Sit down, shut up and do it our way.  Sadly, there are several RINOS in Congress willing to go along to get along.

Even sadder is that there are many cowardly or stupid gun owners that will go along as well.

For what it's worth, I think it's all about getting out there and doing all you can to educate folks about guns and gun rights. You can't use a right if you don't know that it is an actual right, and right now 35% of Americans tested have failed our own citizenship test. That means they don't know what thier rights are, who faught for them or how to keep them. They are happy with thier wacky pack toy and whatever game system is hot right now. I was a hunter ed. teacher for a while - I am planning on getting back into it- and it was great. The one problem was that about 2% of the kids were really new to guns or hunting. They were all old hands at it. Some how we have to find a new audience. It's no good preaching to a church of gun owners.
I did find some good in knowing that many new gun owners were generated by Obama taking office. That was great. I think that did more for the sale of handguns than that sexy girl on the EAA Witness comercial. Anyway, the Obama group is doing a great job of capitalizeing on Americans who have forgotten where they came from. Remember healthcare..... If we are to really save our freedoms, we have to be a growing number of real Americans, not a shrinking one. For now, we are the later.

MB has made this point often, focusing on hunting is a waste of time and resources, the number of people who have access to hunting lands has been dropping like a rock for 50 years between regulations, and development and purchase of large tracts by private parties. Focus on the more accessible "shooting sports" such as "Rimfire challenge" type events that are with in reach of an average family during a depression.
Focus on the fact that it is inexpensive Family fun.

My thought are running in the direction of getting young folks involved. Maybe working with schools to start spoting clay sports and air gun/.22 teams. they just built a nice skeet range not far from here and a couple of the schools have been sniffing around. I have been trying to connect the dots for them to get them started. Once a local school lost a fight to start a soccer team; however, when the parents got together and started two teams in seperate districts, all of a sudden the schools followed through. If they can do that with soccer, then we can do that with our sport. Granted, 75% of those kids will have already been exsposed to guns, but I bet a least 25% will be newbies. That's alot better than my 2% in hunter's ed. When you bring those parents into the equation that means a lot of newbies.

Hell ya!
And just because all the older folks in the family shoot, it doesn't mean the young ones have had a chance yet.
The way things are nowadays, Daddy gets an hour to hunt after work, Older brother goes with friends, but its spur of the moment, Mommy doesn't think he's old enough, no one realizes little sister might be interested.
If they are offered the chance, and find out they ARE old enough / big enough then they'll start asking to go.
Also, air guns are great, all the same skills, much shorter ranges so it's easier to find a safe place to shoot (even in the yard or cellar ) and it's even less expensive than 22.
I've got a Chinese air rifle, dead accurate to 50 yards, I paid $20 brand new pellets are a couple bucks for 250.
The same company makes a pistol as well although it might be a bit large for small kids.
And a trick I heard about to make it a little more fun, tape a relish packet on the target if they get a hit they get to see the green Zombie blood  ;D
If you have a Sheet metal factory in your area, see if they will let you have some of their scrap Alum, or sheet steel. There are often 3 - 4 inch squares and  disks, that make great reactive targets, ( hear the "tink" when they get a hit )  ;D
