« on: March 19, 2011, 12:48:28 AM »
Hi all

need a little bit of help over here please

Please vote NO on the banning of the open season over here

http://tinyurl.com/4g9hobr

also a Protester was shot in the face  today,

not good that she was shot,  however she should not of been in the water before 10AM  and they can only go in the water if they have the licences ( most don't )
Quote
A PROTESTER has been shot in the face just hours after the opening of the controversial duck hunting season this morning.

Protester Julia Symons of Melburne suffered pellet injuries to her face, teeth and hand in a accidental shooting at Lake Buloke, 12km east of Donald in Victoria's west.

Witnesses say Ms Symons, 43, was waist-deep in water when she was shot by the hunter, believed to be aiming at a low-flying bird.

Have your say now. Should duck hunting be banned?

Ms Symons was conscious when she was carried from the water by fellow protesters of a duck rescue group.

They said she still had pellets lodged in her face, and one of her teeth had been shot out.

She was taken to Horsham Hosptial where she is in a stable condition.

Police have seized the gun and are investigating.

“The woman, who is from St Kilda, had been protesting about the duck hunt," a police spokeswoman said.

“It appears she was accidently shot by a 14-year-old boy, who had been duck hunting with his uncle."

Protesters were at the lake to voice their anger at the 2011 hunting season which will see each hunter permitted to kill 10 birds per day.

Today is the first day of the season, which will run until June 13.

Shooters as young as 12 are permitted to hunt ducks with valid game hunting licences.

With a limit of 10 per day there must be plenty of ducks to hunt, so why not hunt them?

:)  Ducks. There's a limit of one protester per day.

:)  Ducks. There's a limit of one protester per day.

Only because it takes taxpayer money to retrieve them  ;D ;D ;D

Barely 50-50 in favor of not banning at this moment.

Using her being shot as a reason to support the ban would be like using the death of a protester of the Interstate Highway system being run down while standing in the fast lane with a protest sign, as a reason to ban Interstates or speed limits over 30mph.

When did Dick Cheney go to OZ?

1254 for banning
1317 for hunting

What do they think is going to happen to the duck population if they ban hunting?  Did they learn nothing from the rabbits?
