It looked like he was drawing when he jumped out of the car.
Our view is further away than hers, and from a different angle, but I would say not only a good shoot, but she handled it very well.

My thought every time I watched it was that he was pulling something from his belt, and in her situation you have to believe gun.  I'm not on the jury, but I would give her the benefit for everything she did on camera.

Near the very end of the video she seemed quite shaken as she walked off camera to the right. I wonder if they didn't find a weapon?  Bill T.

It's very hard to tell with the angle we're given and without further details about why they're stopping the guy, etc.  However, it seems like a justified shooting and a dang good shot (one shot and he dropped).

Near the very end of the video she seemed quite shaken as she walked off camera to the right. I wonder if they didn't find a weapon?  Bill T.

She just shot someone, likely her first time.  That's good reason to be shaken.  I also imagine the adrenaline dump was massive.

It could be that or just coming down off the adrenalin and reality hitting her right between the eyes like a 2x4.  In my time I worked a lot of accidents, rescues and fires, and the biggest post incident danger is body fluids.  Emergency responders vomiting and everything else as they come down off our body's natural enhancement drug and the realization of what has happened and the danger they were in themselves coming into focus.  Regardless of what they found or didn't find I would put my money on the aftermath effect.

I only watched the first minute or so (several times ) As Bill noted, she specified WHY she shot, "He stuck his hand up like he was pulling a gun out or somthin'.....I dunno" although she should have left off the last part.
If they didn't find a gun and it goes to court those 2 words will at best end her career, even though I think she done right and did it well.

It will depend on the internal investigation:  The fact she went gun first and then second guessed even before anyone checked shows the mindset.  When it comes to civil lawsuit it will be determined by her attorney and his ability to show the possible of "something."

Regardless of what happens in the investigation and any court cases that could take place - Her life is changed forever, and that is a sad reality for law enforcement officers every day.

Not that sad.
Her life hasn't changed nearly as much as if he'd got the first shot.
And I hope her fellow Officers point that out to her.

I'd say good shoot.  In my opinion, a "reasonable person" should have assumed by his actions that he had a weapon.  Period.

I remember the adrenaline dump that happened to me at the end of the incident the first time I ever had to AIM my gun at somebody as a LEO.  Also remember the scared feeling I got when I got home later that night, unloaded my sidearm, and discovered that the cylinder had rotated about halfway toward the next chamber through the sheer force of adrenaline as the situation unfolded.  One more good reason to keep your booger hook off the bang switch.  Looking back, I'm convinced that there was one dirtbag that came about 2 foot pounds from seeing Jesus that night.

I love waking up every morning knowing that Donald Trump is President!!
