Ruger Service Six

Just bought this one.  Didn't even put it on lay a way!  Got it for $250 straight up.  I think I did OK on that!  I do wish it was a .357, but alas, it is chambered for .38 Special.  But, as I have a couple thousand .38s loaded up right now, I think I know what I will be shooting for awhile.

Always thought the Service and especially the Police Service Six, Security Six, .357 versions were beauties. Well designed, well balanced, great shooters.

Do you plan on keeping the grips? or trying something else.

$250,,,sounds great. Don't sweat the .38,  I might be wrong, but I think it could handle some +P rds. The frame is just as stout as the .357 frame.

Maybe someone can chime in on that.

Yeah, it can handle +P all day long.  I have a set of cheap rubber grips on it now, and just ordered some Hogues.  I have Hogue grips on all my DA revolvers.  Nothing feels as good to my hand.

Even though it might endanger my membership in the S&W group, I'll say that it looks pretty good.  And for $250 it was a steal.

I agree, if you are going to carry a Ruger boat-anchor it should be in .357 mag, but nice score nonetheless. I do so want a Security-Six in .357 with adjustable sights and a Python barrel, that is my Grail pistol.

Nice addition, you'll love it. I have a Security Six that I bought new in 1983 and love the thing!  Enjoy!
