Dittoes to Timothy.
Look, it is a beauty contest, but the system works. By any objective standard, Gore should have won in a landslide. His admin brought us peace and prosperity, but people were upset about Monica (the world's most dangerous woman as she brought down two Speakers of  the House, a President and a sitting VP. Hell, we could have saved a lot llot of money on nukes and invested in chubby jewish girls from So. Cal. and won the Cold War quicker ;D). Likewise McCain was beaten by a rookie despite, or because, of having the incumbent party AND a prior administration working for him. The system works. Its the voters I worry about. :-X
FQ13

So you liked the guy who voted to give our social security money to illegal aliens ?
Enough to forget about all that peace in Bosnia, Kosovo, and Somalia ?
Did I forget to mention the semi monthly missile strikes in Iraq, a couple into Afghanistan and blowing up an aspirin factory in Sudan.
and refusing to deal with OBL despite at least 6 specific opportunities after he was responsible for the deaths on the USS Cole, and the East African embassy bombings ?
And then there was the "Prosperity", implementing the racially biased lending practice that lead directly to the housing market collapse.
"It's racist to verify income when approving a loan".
FQ, you really are an effing idiot. You should not be allowed out with out a keeper .

Now that you have passed the hairball, who said anything about liked? ;D I'm just reading the numbers. Its retrospective voting 101. Are you better off now than you were four years ago? Its how most folks vote, party has nothing to do with it.

2000 election.

George W Bush votes 50,456,002

Al Gore votes 50,999,897

I wouldn't call that a landslide FQ.  Clinton was a lying, philandering, two faced, poll seeking asshole who did more harm to this country than any prior admin and Al Gore did nothing to stop him or his cow of a wife Hillary.  A man who could not convince the people of his own state he was worth voting for isn't someone to praise.

You were a kid in 1992 so I'll give you one stupid decision due to your ignorance of life.  I, and others, were grown men trying to make a living in a country that was quickly being sold off in huge chunks by Clinton and Gore and their social bullshit and NAFTA. Take a drive through the midwest someday Jay, see what prosperity is still left after the Clinton Admin.

It will make you cry!  If it doesn't, than there is something seriously wrong with you...

Tom, you're going to have to stop waffling and equivocating and start telling us what you really think.  Don't be so reticent, dude!

Let me try this again. I didn't vote for Gore. I am merely saying that based on conventional wisdom in politics, the smart money would have been on him. Mine was not a political post, just an observation about how folks historically have tended to vote.

Yes, my reticence some times leaves people unsure of my opinion   :-\

But you know how I just hate to stir controversy.   ::)

I (we) know you didn't vote for Al.  You've stated how much you liked GHWB in the past.  Wisdom in politics?  Smart Money?  Look up oxymoron in the dictionary..

You said "peace and prosperity"!  OK, no "actual" war existed but the prosperity was cloak and daggers and shady internet companies that produced nothing but nothing and destroyed peoples lives.

To have any respect for Al Gore is stupid..

Which is why I voted Libertarian. However, historically speaking, poli sci tells us that generally Reagan had it right. People go into the voting booth and ask themselves "Am I better off now than I was at the last election"? If the answer is yes, the incumbent party tends to win. If not, they lose. Its a large part of why McCain lost and BO will only win in 2012 if the GOP commits suicide.

Drudge had the recent story of over 5,000 illegal immigrant votes in the last election. I'm sure it's an understated amount.

The Left fights tooth and nail to NOT have to show ID at your voting location.....

Nuff said....Except for the delaying of the absentee ballots to the military (by the State of Ill.), or ACORN, or the brown-nosing to illegals,....(by the Left),.....the Right is just wussified by illegals.

Or Vote here, Vote Often,... or,....or,.....

Yeah,....seems ligit to me,...
Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.
