Ammo Is Going Up....Big Time !
« on: March 30, 2011, 01:39:18 PM »
I just came from Cabela's after my weekly "look & check" ammo hunt. Prices are going way up, and the shelves are starting to go low to bare again. You have to hunt for .45 ACP, and when you find it it's $20.00+ a box for what used to be "cheap" FMJ. I found some Federal American Eagle 115 gr. FMJ 9 MM for $10.99 a box and grabbed 10 boxes.

They had Hunting Shack .50 BMG Tracer for $65.00 a box of 10! That's more than Hornady .50 BMG A-Max. I found a few boxes of Federal XM-33 Ball .50 BMG for $36.95, not too bad. Every box of .380 was 20% to 30% more than comparable 9 MM. .38 Special lead loads were $18.99. Stuff like .44 Magnum, premium .357 Mag., and any of the other high performance revolver rounds were off the chart expensive.

One of the clerks there told me they expect to see a 50% rise in ammunition across the board before the year is out. I believe it. Non ferrous metal prices are again on the rise, and fuel is going sky high which means the cost to ship ammo, (which is all dead weight), will be going through the roof. They had 25 pound bags of lead shot for $40.00 a bag. That is always a good indicator of where lead prices are at. Stock up now because this time the prices will go up and stay there. Last but not least was Federal American Eagle .22 LR 36 grain hollow points, price.....................$6.95 for a single box of 50! That's .14 cents a round for .22's! Insane.   Bill T.

I was at Acadamy sports today.  When I came to the shoe dept. with just a t-shirt, my wife looked at me with a cofused look.  What no ammo this week?  I had checked on .223 and .45 acp.  My normal thing to do is buy 250 rounds of .45 and 500 rounds of .223.  The prices have indeed gone up.  I told the wife it just pissed me off and I'll find it in bulk somewhere online.
Give me liberty or I'll get my guns and get it myself.

J&G is holding tight on deals, Luckygunner.com, is creeping up, ammoengine.com is getting "slowly" higher... It was bound to happen with gas prices and raw materials.

However, even before the gas prices, and raw material prices started creeping up,.....

WHY IS/WAS 45COLT SO EXPENSIVE???? :'(

Either way, stock up.  I've been saying it since the .380, .223 crash of 09. We're one Executive Order from it repeating itself.

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

This is starting to look more and more like a repeat after Hussein was elected. My local Wal-Mart is out of Federal 9 MM for the first time in months. They don't know when they'll be getting any more in. Bill T.

Bama's probably using your tax dollars buying up all that can be manufactured and giving it to the rebels...  SERIOUSLY!  ::)

Truth is that prices are staying the same.
It's the buying power of your money that is dropping.
That's what happens when a govt tries to print its way out of debt.
It will get worse before it gets better.

It's not all bad news. I just ordered 1,000 rounds of 9 MM Swiss ammo from Ammunition To Go for a grand total of just $212.33 delivered. Rastus gave me the link. I'm going to buy all I can until the price gets too high. Here is the link. Grab it!  This is good ammo.  Bill T.
