Does anybody have any info/experiences with a good 8-12 gun safe?
I picked one up at Gander Mtn, it's a Liberty safe made for Gander called Timber Ridge. It was on sale (10% off), plus another 10% if I signed up for and used the Gander Mtn. credit card so 20% off total. Plus, they dropped it, said they scratched it (I can't find the scratches) and they took another $75 off. All told, I got a 15 gun safe for under $700. Not as good as 2/3 off, but not bad. Movers will cost you some too, but they got it into my lower level, not I. Interiors are carpeted/padded, with molded rests for long guns.
It's a fire safe, meaning it will keep under 1200 degrees for almost an hour. If you don't want the fire protection, Stack-on and Homak make some heavy steel safes that aren't too bad. I am getting a 2-door Stack-on for reloading supplies, powder, etc. Interiors are more Spartan, with plastic molded shapes to hold the guns.
