disclosing info when buying a new firearm.

About three days ago, I went to the local sporting goods store and purchased a Bushmaster ORC M4. I filled out the normal 4473 form, gave my DL and jumped thru all the regular flaming hoops.  Before the cleark ran my background check he asked me if I held any firearms permits. I asked him " who wants to know ?"  He said they just want us to ask but wouldn't say who they were.  I told him that was nobodies buisness but mine.  He said OK and ran the check.  I left the store with my new M4 with no problems.  I just want to know if any of yall have ran into the same thing.  Where I bought the gun is a chain store and a fairly large one at that.  I've bought several guns from them in the past and never had this happen before.  Just curious to here what yall think.

"Permit's" would be stuff like CCW, or C&R license,  it was probably a good thing.
If he was asking if you owned other guns, had bought any in the last 30 days, had kids, Then I'd tell him to get bent.

I have a CCW but I'm a little paranoid about telling people unless I'm around other gun guys.  This kid was only a stock boy filling in for the regular.

In Texas, if you have a CHL, the gun dealer doesn't have to run the background check. He was probably just wanting to skip some paperwork.

It's different here in Louisiana.  I just like to fly under the radar.  We have decent gun laws here.  Our car is considered an extension of our home and we can carry in thr vehicle with no permit.  But I'm sure you heard the stories about the Katrina aftermath.

You already gave him your DL. All he has to do is run the number and your CC number will pop up.
Your car is considered an extension of your domicile here in Texas also.

My main reason for getting a Concealed Handgun License here was so I could skip the background check and (Clinton) waiting period. I didn't start carrying untill a couple of years after I received a CHL.

I have my CCP for reciprocity (spelling?)  I travel a lot, mainly along the coast for work.  Just makes it easy.  As a matter of fact I was in Galveston TX a few years ago and had to enter a ship dock.  The guard said my truck neede to be searched before I could enter.  I muttered aw $h_t and he asked whate wrong do you ave a gun in there?  I told him I had a permit for it.  He said no problem and gave me a claim ticket and locked it in his safe.  When I departed the dock it was returned to me and all was good.  Gotta love the south.

VA allows cash and carry of "regulated firearms" (ARs) with a CCW.  I don't remember off hand if it counts for handguns too.
