44 colt
« on: April 03, 2011, 10:21:02 PM »
When BHO got elected and ammo got low I bought what was suppose to be 45 colt, that was 2 years ago.  Went to shoot it this weekend and it morphed into 44 Colt.  So what can this be shot in besides a 44 Colt, I dont need it and need to find out what buddy I can pawn it off on.

I just did a quick search and it seems the .44 Colt can be used in a .44 Special or .44 Magnum revolver.  Might be a good idea to do more research before trusting me on this one.

I reworked some .44 mag brass yesterday to fire in a .45 colt double barreled derringer that I've been working on.

I don't have any .45 Colt and brass is the same length and rim thickness the same, .002" larger rim diameter on the .44 mag but it seemed to work fine for what I was using it for.

I started with pretty weak loads of 2400 and ended up with 7 grains of Unique. I may work it up more after getting the gun to function 100%.

The gun was firing both barrels with one pull when I got it.

Tom, you would laugh if you saw it. I'd take a picture of the gun and my reloads but my camera is at work.

Some Colt SAAs were .44-40 caliber. I wonder if that's what you got. Could .44 Colt could be a missprint?
