well a few weeks ago when I was starting my Long Service leave I had let a good client and who is also a mate know I was away for a while
about 10 minutes after sending the email he gives me a call, and said he was just leaving Adelaide in his Boat for a Trip to Lincoln for a month of Tuna Fishing and asked would I like to fly over to Lincoln for the last week of the trip and we would take the boat back home.
could not get yes I am there out quick enough.
well I had never before been in open water fishing or have never caught a tuna before.
I landed in Lincoln on the Sunday Morning ( the flight was quicker than it takes me to drive to work )
and got the cab to the marina
we had to wait around a while as there was a couple of things that needed to get done to the boat and needed to re-fuel before heading out as we were not going back in to port
anyway that arvo we headed out and was planning a big day of fishing on monday, that night though we had a 7 gill shark swimming about the boat when we had the stern lights on while we were doing a little fishing.
when we got out to the spots to start trolling watching the birds smash in to the water when the Tuna are on the bait fish,
did not take long though before that great sound of the drag on a reel going crazy and we were on, got my first ever tuna what fun that is. We ended up bagging out just about each day.
one of the days we went out to a reef that was about 40 nautical miles out of Lincoln caught my first Kingfish and Trevally and got sick real quick of catching Rock Cod or Blue Mouths
in another spot where they do diving for Great Whites we had one up near the boat ( about 14 to 16 foot ) wow they are amazing fish,
very hard to get a clear photo of though. also we went back again another day and were able to get 2 near the boat as one we saw had a tag on it.
we also had a few cray pots so out they went the winch buggered up so it was fun bringing them up by hand ( we fixed it for the 2nd time we put them out)
we ended up with 3 crays ( soo much better when had fresh ) and made the trip home sitting off a reef in the gulf on the way back home for our last meal of the boat soo much nicer :onya:
any ways enough of my wishing I was still on the boat here are some photos
