Irony: S&W "Don't thread on me" 629-6
« on: April 18, 2011, 09:06:45 PM »
So I thought I'd post this under Politics since that's where the irony comes in.

I was searching the web for S&W revolvers for sale and came across a really neat 629.   I don't know if S&W or one of the distributors took a 629 (stainless .44 mag) and hand the side plate engraved with a rattle snake and the words "Don't Tread On me".

Really cool I thought, until I realized it was a "-6".   For those who don't know the 629-6 have the infernal internal lock.  The lock that S&W included to try and appease the anti-gun crowd.

So, hopefully, I'm not the only one who finds the irony in this.

Otherwise a nice 4" .44mag.   But not for me.   Since engraving is getting so cheap and common, maybe I'll have one of my guns done with that logo.
Will work for ammo

Love the logo, but not at all keen on S&W for caving to the control crowd back in the day.

I DO think the snake and motto would look awfully good on my s/s Ruger .44 Mag, though.

Even at a ball game, when someone talks during the anthem or doesn’t take off his hat, it pisses me off. I’m not one to be quiet about it, either.”  Chris Kyle

IIRC, back in those days, S&W was owned by the Brits. They lost so much money and market share after caving to the anti's, they sold S&W at almost fire sale prices.
