Storm Damage...
« on: April 28, 2011, 09:07:22 AM »
Woke up early this morning to the sound of high winds.  Didn't think much of it for a while but later decided to check things out.  Seems we had a pine tree uprooted in the back yard!!!  Luck was with us and our neighbors so to speak because we only lost some wood fence and old chainlink.  If it had blown over any other way it would have taken out a very large pole barn, an above ground pool or two or one of three or four old garages or a small house occupied by a young Mother and Daughter.  Believe me, I said a silent prayer of thanks.

Can't complain except finances are tight and having it cleaned up is going to be costly.  Insurance should cover the fence and I will be keeping the wood to burn at the camper.  Not sure what I'm will have to do about the stump.  Might leave it for a while as a reminder.  LOL

Hope the storm has passed you all by safely.

Glad to hear no major damage was done!  Seems to be more "severe" storms than usual the last two years or so...  I blame Obama!   ;)

Glad to hear you made it through without major damage.

We've had 3 straight weeks with tornadoes.  Thankfully, the worst that's happened here is no power yesterday afternoon through this morning.  There's major damage all around us though, especially to the east in AL.

I'm tired of the storms.

We are just rolling into our summer version of weather up here.  Every year I watch those to the south and am amazed by the constant and lengthy rolling of storms.  We get that in the winter, but we can just hunker down and wait for tomorrow.  You don't know if tomorrow will come!

Glad you are ok, and if I were closer I would bring the loader, chains and chainsaw to match your steak, corn on the cob and beer  ;)

Good luck on the clean up!

Our thoughts and prayers are with all our brothers and sisters caught up in these terrible storms.  250 confirmed dead with prospects of a rapidly increasing number as the destruction is searched.  We plead God's mercy on their souls.

^^^^^^^^^^What CR said.

I've spent the last week checking with friends I have all over the south and midwest to make sure they're safe.  There have been several close calls but so far everyone is fine.

My prayers to those in harms way....having lived my youth in the storm belt, I truly understand the fury that mother nature can spill forth.

Isn't it interesting how hundreds of people in our own back yards have been killed, thousands left homeless, lives destroyed, and all the media can talk about is a STUPID WEDDING IN ANOTHER COUNTRY INVOLVING PEOPLE WHO MEAN NOTHING TO THE WORLD AS A WHOLE.  AND NEVER WILL...   >:(

Sort of like the Super Bowl, huh?
