Gangster Governement
Barack Obama and the New Washington Thugocracy
by David Fredoso is a documentation and commentary of the Chicago style politics that have now descended on the White House. While there probably not been a President who hasn't bullied his opponents to some extent, the current administration makes it their practice de rigueur. The extent to which they use treats and intimidation is extraordinary. The term "Gangster Government" was coined by senior political analyst for the Washington Examiner, Michael Barone, who provides the Forward for the book.
The book first lays out the basic case for gangster government, then goes through chapter by chapter of examples. Including, how laws were bent, contracts broken and judges swayed in "Saving the UAW". Note: Not saving GM, but the UAW. "On the Precipice: Obamacare" is obviously about health care and "The Most Expensive Story Ever Told" is about Porkulus. Fredoso also covers "We're Gonna Help our Friend: Big Labor" and "Trial Lawyers" as well as "We're Gonna Punish Our Enemies".
All in all, a wake up call if you didn't know how "hope and change" really operates. A heart stopping thriller even if you were aware of how some of this has been coming down. The last chapter is devoted to solutions. One of the novel ones is to adopt a practice other government use. This is a check and balance on one party rule in which Minority party gets the chair of all the committees.
