And he did it shooting a single stack Glock 36!  ;)

Here's picture of the gun he used:

The 1911 at the top of the page is the one he used to compete. And this is the quote from Dave from his FB page about the gun's setup:
"The pistol is a custom Springfield 1911-A1, .45 ACP. Square trigger guard w light-rail dustcover, short/flat trigger, ambi-safety, Schuemann barrel, TGO Tech Well, Mil-Tac G10 diamond grips, Warren Tactical Series-Sevigny Competition sight, over size mag release and Ion Bond DLC finish. The magazines are 8 rnd. Tripp Cobra. I've been running 230 gr. FMJ at approx. 170 P.F. from Atlanta Arms and Ammo."

Too bad for Rob Leatham. I guess he has to go 16-1 in this match. What a terrific run though!  :)

Rob is recovering from knee surgery.  That isn't an excuse, just a statement.  At that he can still rock!  Congrats Dave!!!!  Wonder if he had to get written permission to use a non-Glock?

Don't know about how Glock will handle this other than to say 'Congrats' behind closed doors. But I bet SA told Dave anytime he wanted to leave Glock they would gladly pick him up.

If you think about it, SA pistols have won the SSC 17 years straight- impressive.

I also was thinking about how big of an upset this is. This is on par with the team who stopped the Celtics long run of consecutive championships or the team who finally stopped UCLA's consecutive championships. It really is a very significant event not only in the shooting sports, but in sports in general too.

And one has to ask, "Where was Michael B. on this great occassion?" Sadly, Michael was out shooting a Cowboy match not covering one of the greatest upsets in sports history.....   ;)
