#2 son was doing a school report about the War of Northern Victory er The War Between the States. His topic was Stonewall Jackson. Sunday afternoon he was setting up he extra credit 'artifacts'. He drug out my old Citadel Dress Gray. I found a .58 Minnie ball for him , which was confiscated by the skrool today because it's a weapon.

It was rainy so we decided to make some hard tack 4 cups flour, 1 1/4 cup warm water, 1 teaspoon salt, mix till arm falls off! Roll till it's 1/2" thick, cut into 3" squares and poke 16 holes in each cracker. Bake 30 minutes, flip over and back 30 more. Viola - sheet iron crackers!
We sampled a few. Yup hard as a rock! One of the articles mentioned they used to fry it with salt pork - the wife was out of salt pork but she had bacon. We tried some hard tack fried in bacon grease , not bad - even better was soaked in water then friend and even better with a bit of molasses on top.
I'm still a bit ticked about the skrool taking the minnie ball but years almost over not going to rock the boat
