Obama: We're Working on Gun Control 'Under the Radar'

On March 30, the 30th anniversary of the assassination attempt on President Ronald Reagan, Jim Brady, who sustained a debilitating head wound in the attack, and his wife, Sarah, came to Capitol Hill to push for a ban on the controversial "large magazines." Brady, for whom the law requiring background checks on handgun purchasers is named, then met with White House press secretary Jay Carney. During the meeting, President Obama dropped in and, according to Sarah Brady, brought up the issue of gun control, "to fill us in that it was very much on his agenda," she said.

"I just want you to know that we are working on it," Brady recalled the president telling them. "We have to go through a few processes, but under the radar."

Haven't read the article, but Brady's statement indicates one of two things.

1.   Brady it willing to betray a confidence given by the POS to grab some headlines.

or

2.  The POS wanted this to "leak" out to reassure the Antis that he is really working hard for them "under the radar"

If 2 is correct, the question would be if the POS let Brady know he wanted it to be released or if the POS knew Brady had no loyalty and would blab it first chance she got.

Jnevis has it pretty much right. BO is to gun control what Reagan was to abortion. Both are hostile, but neither one want to make it a huge issue, particularly where it will cost them votes. BO will do stuff under the radar, like tightening the sporting purposes test, and blaming US weapons for Mexican violence and the like, to keep the antis happy. He has not however, showed any willingnes to get into a pissing contest in the Congress over something like the AWB bill. What he said to Sarah was "We share your concern and we're working on it". That's pol speak for "Screw campaign promises, I'm not doing it. Vote for the other party if you don't like it". Brady understood that, and ratted him out to hopefully get him on the record. BO knew she would do just that and it probably helped restore the faith, and open the wallets, of the more gullible antis. Just another day in DC.

I believe they WERE talking about Fast and Furious. I think they are so smug and arrogant, believing themselves to be so much smarter than everyone else, that they would be able to be quiet on gun control while manufacturing this whole "crisis" in Mexico. They thought they would blow the whole thing open and force gun control through this entirely trumped up scenario they created. The idiots never realized that the Mexicans weren't going to help them a bit, and they didn't count on getting caught. They should all hang.
