Facebook Tycoon only eats what he kills
« on: May 26, 2011, 10:25:26 PM »
An interesting piece. Zuckerberg is apparently trying to de-yuppify himself and only eat animals he's killed this year. Kind of interesting given the expulsion of the chicken assassins posted in another thread. On the one hand, I want to roll my eyes. On the other, as a hunter and an honest man, I'm all in favor of being honest about the fact that meat means having blood on your hands and you should accept that or eat more tofu. I think Uncle Ted would approve. Zuckerberg mentioned wanting to try hunting. Can you imagine the video of him and the Nuge in the woods? ;D

I'd say it's pretty respectable if he sticks with it.  I caught a turtle while fishing in the pond this evening...  Couldn't help but wonder how he'd taste deep fried with some cajun breading!   ;D

My wife and kids swear by wild game. One I can taste a difference. I clean and dress the animal. I do not waste any meat as it was a precious gift.

Have no fear, Zuckerberg is a poseur. And still a post-modern yuppy. It is all about him, nothing else. And it is being driven by some fancy chef in SF who planted the idea. Note that he does not actually raise any of the animals, simply buys them and slaughters them - all 3 of them by the article.

In the article he says he picks something to do for that year - learn Chinese, kill what he eats, whatever. Next year he will not do this and be on to something else. It is all about him.

Kudos for him learning what real food tastes like, but -1 million for being such a putz.

It may be a single year and a ploy, but I have to give him credit for wanting to do something different each year and expand his knowledge base.  Plus as FQ said, I'd love to see him on Outdoor Channel with The Nuge.  Maybe next year he can be convinced to try competition shooting with the Four M's?

"Facebook meets the Outdoor Channel"  Think of the wall that would crumble if someone as "mainstream" as the founder of Facebook became a "shooter."  Sure it would probably only be for a year, but if he can be educated and trained, it would have a lasting effect on the "Gun-nut" mentality. "Anybody can do it and it's safe.  Plus a lot of fun."

Pretty Good!  A bit more chewy than frog legs.

I just hope Zuckerberg is not a vegetarian. LOL!

It's the latest new age "too real to be rich" fad. Real people just consider it food. With him and his food nazi (it's all natural) friends, it's their way to connect to medieval aristocracy. ::)

I do kind of like the idea of his "annual project" thing. Making it a point to do or learn something new every year. Learning a language, learning to sail, reading about an historical period, learning to fix your car, or whatever it may be. It seems like a nice way to keep from falling into a rut and broadening your horizons.

Seems pretty much to describe a dilettante to me. Not someone who is seriously interested in something and is researching it, just another lightweight who "sets goals for himself", does something, and moves on. We'll see in a year or so if he can still hold a conversation in Mandarin or not, or if he even owns a boat let alone sails it.
