New Carry and consant companion
« on: June 03, 2011, 02:43:45 PM »
So I've been doing some updating to my standard carry companions and have reach what I would call the best pairing I've had yet. Sadly I feel that it is a complete rip off of our fearless leaders. I have been wanting to try out an SR9c since it was announced and when MB started touting it as his favorite carry gun it only reinforced my want for one by a factor of 10. So this last week I finally found one. Black alloy slide makes it just look awesome (my full-size SR9 has the stainless). I'm debating if I want to put the XS sights on it as I haven't really had a chance to try them myself. I saw the Mitch Rosen holster reviews and figured if Ruger recommends them I'll give em a shot. So I picked one up for my full size and now have one specifIcally for the compact on order as well. Excellent holster! The fit and finish were better than any of my Galcos and I greatly love Galco holsters. But to top it off I found a used LCP for $250 so I'll be picking up a nemisis holster today and there you have it. As much as I loved my M&Ps the Ruger just carries that much better for me. And the lcp just seemed to be the more recommended pocket gun over the Taurus, even though I'm still considering picking up an LCR.

Sounds like a well thought out setup, can't go wrong taking MB's advice.  Be interested in the rounds you have tried and what you have decided to load in your Rugers.
Agree that M&Ps are excellent but difficult to carry.  I recently decided to go with a better holster for my H&K P2000SK rather than buy a smaller/thinner pistol.  So far the Galco (looks like the Crossbreed) seems to be much more comfortable so far; holsters can make all the difference.
Good luck with the new choices you made, hope they work very well for you.

I have a couple of Mitch Rosen holsters from Dillon. You won't be disappointed and they will last 2 lifetimes.

I did have to buy a bottle of their "Leather Lightning" so I didn't need three people to draw my 1911 and my Sig 220. TIGHT fit. Does anyone know what that stuff is?

I carried the M&Ps in crossbreed holsters and had no problem but the SR9/c is just a little easier. And the SR9c fits my hand a bit better than my M&P9c did. But the King Tuck I had from Galco was exceptional and really worked well even with my Sig 226.

The fit on my Ruger is great. No help needed on the draw.

I wondered the same thing so I sent a sample of it to a friend who works in a chemical analysis lab asking him to tell me what he thinks.

Two days later he calls me and says    "I have bad news.  Your horse has diabetes"

Let us know which holster you choose for the LCP, and how you like it!  ;)

I picked up a Nemisis this morning and so far it ok. I am carrying my SR9c with the LCP in the front left pocket to see how it carries and hopefully tomorrow I'll get to the range to work on operational stuff.

I know that decisions and purchases have been made, but I will put in my shameless ad for a friend, holster maker (I use their holster for my lcp daily), and fellow board member of our Friends of NRA chapter:

http://www.tntcustomleather.com/holsters.html

My only complaint to them is that they need to square the holster off where it curls back under the muzzle.  On mine the thin print pad curls up, and if I put it in my back pocket it will rotate over in dress slacks.  Tammy is looking at it, and is going to make me one that is squared off.  Tom said it would actually be easier to stitch and pricing probably wouldn't change.

I have started using Galco's silicone spray in my leather holsters.  It makes them draw easier, but does not slime the gun up or make it so slick they fall out.  I think that it also helps with my salty sweat being transferred through the leather to the soon to be rusty gun.
If I appear taller than other men it is because I am standing on the shoulders of others.
