Utah Concealed Carry License
« on: June 07, 2011, 09:31:27 AM »
Just finished up a class to obtain a Utah Concealed Carry License. Their license offers more options to carry in other states than what my Indiana Concealed Carry License offers in reciprocity.

Team that up with a FL out of state CCW and you got a lot of coverage.

First:  I am picky about this one, but words are powerful!  Use the proper words or risk sending the wrong message!

Utah does not "license" CCW - "UTAH DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY Concealed Firearm Permit"

Minnesota does not license CCW - "STATE OF MINNESOTA PERMIT TO CARRY A PISTOL"

Rant off.

Now on to your question:

I have both Minnesota (I am a resident) and Utah.  I also teach both.  Multiple permits give me the opportunity to carry in more places.  I am looking at Florida soon, so I can carry their this fall.

Utah has a side benefit of giving me another option of photo id.  I have in the past run into security situations where I needed two photo id's and do not like carrying my passport.  My Minnesota Drivers License and my Utah Permit give me two government issued photo id's.
If I appear taller than other men it is because I am standing on the shoulders of others.

I do not believe that I need a class to be able to exercise my God given Right.  While classes are good, and I support having them available, when they require you to take and pass a history class to be able to vote, I MAY get behind mandatory classes for carrying a weapon.

I don't believe it either, but until our Constitutional Rights are restored I will take the classes to avoid being like so many examples we read about or watch on YouTube on here.

If I have a FL resident CCW would I gain any additional states with a Utah or other state?

http://www.usacarry.com/concealed_carry_permit_reciprocity_maps.html

Click on your state (or the state you have a permit from ), chose resident or non-resident, and the map will show you who honors it.

Yes, there are some states covered by Utah's permit that FL does not cover and vice versa.
