Absolutely!

Check with the Police regardless of what all these reciprocity sites say.  I trust basically nothing I read on the internet.

Not police!  Each state's attorney general lists the carry laws.

Another thing many of you seem to be overlooking, many states only recognize an out of state permit if you are a resident of the issuing state. Non resident isn't recognized for reciprocity.

I try and explain that to Minnesotans that think they need to have only a Utah non-resident.  They have bought into all the gun forum talk and think the Utah permit is magic.

Click on your state (or the state you have a permit from ), chose resident or non-resident, and the map will show you who honors it.

I know about this, my question is does anyone know if there's another permit that can give more states than a FL resident permit. I know I can add Nevada with a Nevada permit and Minnesota with a Minnesota permit but I don't think there's another state that gives extra states beyond that one state if you already have a FL resident permit since it's got the highest reciprocity.

Yes, there are some states covered by Utah's permit that FL does not cover and vice versa.

My FL resident permit already gives me Utah, the only extra state I see that I get with a Utah non-resident is MN. I might as well just get a MN if I want reciprocity there. The only one that may be worth getting is NV which would give me MN & NV for a total of 39 states covered since my FL resident already gives me 37 states.

I would call the SD in whatever county you want it for. The out of state permit  used out of that state makes me nervous. I want a name, and badge number, and date who tells me its ok so I can supenoa them if it gets weird. Trying to explain to a 23 year old St. Cloud cop that he should honor a Nv. permit with my Fl. dl. seems like begging for pain.

Your answer is mostly in the map.  Just select each state and check your residence status.  The map will show you what you get, and you can look at the lists.  Once you have done this go to the Attorneys General web sites and double check.

The only other way for me to tell you is to do the work for you, and as my teachers always told me "That ain't gonna happen!"

I did not learn about the Utah license/permit through a forum. Met a guy who teaches it while getting my NRA Pistol Instructor Certification and he offered me the opportunity to attend the class for free. (There are fellows around here who are charging $150 plus for the class). Thought it would be another feather in the cap and it is always good to learn something new. The class was excellent and met more pro-firearm people.

I believe the situation has changed in recent years....

When Utah and FL where touted as the hot combo for non-res permits to get a large number of covered states, state laws made no distinction between resident and non-resident permits for reciprocity.

When it was learned that Utah and FL were used to acquire a "blanket permit" many states changed their reciprocity statute to specifically resident permits and to exclude non-resident permits.
