Something to check out at Breada's

This is an excerpt I found over at Breada's    http://www.thebredafallacy.com/

A photograph of me (taken by my husband, with my iPhone) has been saved and reproduced by a member the GunUp Blogger Network and 2011 winner of the Luckygunner Up & Comer Gunnie Award. I'm sure he thought himself clever to title his post "Breda Porn" and began salivating over all the traffic, and resulting blog revenue, certain Google searches might bring him. In short, he is using my copyrighted material for monetary gain, without my permission.

In the comments she is asked who the blogger is and she makes the ID in the second comment.  Check it out

Can someone explain this to me? I hit a few forums, but have never been to Breda's blog. Never heard of her till till now. Is what this guy did a terrible thing or is she just being a pain? I really have no idea and am just asking as I am not always up on netiquette  particulary as it pertains to blogs.

I've been reading Breda for a couple of years (have about 30 blogs that come through my RSS reader).  She used to be co-host with Caleb on Guns Nuts radio.

While you wouldn't read her blogs to get the latest on guns and gear, she is a good example of GunCulture v2.0 (TM). She's a relatively new shooter who firmly believes in self reliace and personal choice.  Seems like a nice person with good values.  Don't agree with her on everything but there is usually something good at her place...she is in that upper tier of gun bloggers with Say Uncle, Jay, Sharp as a Marble, etc.

Biggest issue is that she took offense at her picture being associated with the word Porn.  One thing to use it when referring to an inanimate object, different with a person.  Even if you thought it was funny or a good play on words, if a respected person says they are uncomfortable with it, have some decency and take it down.  It has now turned into a pi$$ing match and the GunMart dude is looking like a Weiner.

 I believe Michael Bane attended her bloggers meeting last year at the NRA convention. '

I just went and checked the issue out, and this women needs thicker skin if she is going to play on the internet!

I guess I have gotten used to us using the word porn in place of pictures.  If she is going to let the photo out publicly it is going to happen.  As long as she doesn't go into the actual porn business or doesn't have some compromising photos out there there is nothing to worry about.

I've been following her site (and on FB) for a good while and she has pretty thick skin. She can dish it out and take it pretty well. I believe she would actually fit in well with us here. What it boils down to is that no decent woman (or anyone else for that matter) wants their name or image associated in a negative context, particularly in a way that might show up in a certain type of internet search.....even if the actual content is harmless in nature.

I also agree that if you put a photo on a public page without some type of copy-blocking software, even if it is considered copyrighted material, beware of its usage.

A lot of folks don't understand that most sites generate revenue from advertisers, via the number of "hits" or visits their site gets. Using someone else's picture, combined with a racy heading in order to generate more hits (especially after just winning the Up & Coming new blogger award) is a good reason to be miffed.

I think it is a combination of the two things.....again, JMHO, FWIW
