Third Strike with my M&P Pro 9
« on: June 11, 2011, 06:55:12 PM »
At a local IDPA match my scores seem to be rather poor. Wrote it off as just a bad day.
Then missed a popper at 5 yards six time!
Looked at the front sight and it had drifted about 1/8 inch to the left.

That is the third time between 2 M&P's that the sight had moved on it's own.

Another shooter using an M&P pro said he was having trouble today. We checked his gun and his rear sight was loose and flopping around.

Yes if I send it back S & W will fix it but come on now!

Greatly PO'ed right now. I'm trading both of them in Monday.

You have my sympathy....I considered getting an M&P but I figure I'll keep what I have. I have never had a problem with my STI Spartan (1911 - 9mm/.45 ACP) nor any of my Glocks.

Best of luck!

That does suck. That's inexcusable for a brand like Smith. I think you're right to just whistle it down the wind. Even if they sent you a brand new one would you want it? There are plenty of good alternatives out there, Glocks, Springfields, Glocks, 1911s, Glocks, Berettas, Glocks etc, ;) Good luck and have fun shopping.

Bummer.
I had to use a spring loaded center punch on the bottom of one front sight to create enough zits for it to grab firmly. It was a bitch to put on but that sucker hasn't moved since!

That is strange because I watched a show where they were instaling sights with a hydraulic press.  Others have said that they had a hard time getting their sights out!  I suggest you take the sight out and use a center punch to raise up a few dimples to add pressure to the sight dovetail.  I have heard this works.

It will if the upper is steel, Not so much if it's polymer.

I've used Super Glue on loose sights.
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

Drifted it over and took it to the range. Still about 1" at 10 yards.

Working a trade with one of the 3 gun guys for his G-34 with holster and 4 mag for my M&P Pro, holster and 6 magazines.
