I got to play with the Westboro Baptist Church today

They decided to protest at the funeral of USMC Sgt. Kevin Bakuf today.

I believe they were outnumbered about 4000 to 4.

Thanks Peg for posting.

I met Sgt. Bakuf wife and and her father and mother. They walked the grounds and shook every single person hand they could and thanked them for their support.

Nashville gave WBC a permit for a 45 minute protest and boxed them in using Metro PD cars and a two horse trailers. In about 5 minutes the crowd cut them off and drown them out. When their time was up they literally ran for their vehicle and beat feet.

Yes I realize that you should avoid emotional crowds if your concerned for your personal safety, but these folks need to be confronted every time they surface.

The counter protesters were a real mix of folks but pretty well behaved. They did surge across 3 lane once or twice when the WBC started shouting but moved back when Metro asked them  to. I did see several hand guns and knives on folks hips and pockets.

One elderly lady tapped me on the shoulder and asked if the folks from the WBO were across the street. I told her yes and stepped aside. She must have tapped a half a dozen guy on the shoulder and they each moved out of the way so she could see. The lady was all of five foot nothing with a big sun hat on.  After she saw them she thanked us and walked away

In the interest of avoiding accidental contact, what would be wrong with posting their license plate numbers with a vehicle description?

Nothing I can see but to be honest the Metro PD had them so boxed in I never saw what the left in.

 The Guardians had a minute by minute G2 on where the were and where they stayed. One guy I met was getting the updates on his phone. It may have come from the police or they may have been shadowing the group.  Lot's of water for folks, flags and shuttle parking and buses. The logistic train was impressive.

I have to say the Nashville press gave them little or no coverage until they left town.

Perfect way to deal with them.

For all the effect it had on the family and friends, they might have been protesting in an empty warehouse.
