New (to me) S&W 1911PD
« on: June 22, 2011, 05:21:07 PM »
A while back I had an opportunity to trade for a S&W 1911PD commander.  I had not seen a two-tone one before nor had I seen one with a clean (no text) slide.  We both thought we got what we wanted so it was a good deal.  Just got it back from my smith after a sight upgrade and a bob job.  I have to redo the reliability testing but I think I have found my new carry gun.

Just wanted to share.

Prior to the bob job it was pretty boring - no hiccups and more accurate than its owner.  Since the mainspring gets replaced with the bobtail I need to make sure nothing has changed.

I loves me some two-tone 1911s.......and the fact that I haven't created or bought one yet (in 20+ years) perplexes me somewhat........
I am jealous.   :-\  :-\   :-[

Oh yeah, very nice looking gun.   ;D  ;D

It's a 1911, what's not to like?

Do hope she does what you ask...is it a lightweight or steel?

Good "clean" looking shooter!  Good buy if it shoots like it looks.

Are those the Novak sights? My S&W full size 1911 came with them and they look identical...

LOVE the grips...Very sweet.

Congratualtions!

I truly believe that there is nothing that S&W can't do on a world class scale if they feel like it. I picked up a low number NIB S&W 1911 a few months back for practically nothing, the poor guy needed cash bad. Best money I ever spent. Shoots like a laser beam. Totally on par with Dan Wessons and Springfields I've owned.
