Story from a couple days ago two towns over from me.

At 2:45 p.m. Sunday, the Linn County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from John Allen Curran. He said he had been assaulted by a man who was later identified Leland Michael Wright, 26, of Sweet Home.
According to Curran, 30, who raises and trains labrador retrievers, Wright arrived at his residence and asked about purchasing a dog.
After looking at the dogs, Curran walked with Wright off the property and was on the driveway when, he told the deputies, Wright suddenly violently attacked him and knocked him to the ground.
Curran yelled for help and realized no one was in the area to assist him. Curran, who is a concealed weapons permit holder, was able to draw his .38 caliber revolver during the fight and fired one round, shooting Wright in the abdomen, which ended the assault.
Wright then pulled a knife from his pants and threw it away from him.
Wright was transported by a Reach helicopter to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield. He was in stable condition.
Linn County Sheriff's Office deputies and detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.
At this time no statement from Wright has been obtained by detectives, the sheriff said.
Curran has told detectives that he does not know Wright or his reason for assaulting him, Mueller said. No charges have been filed at this time.
Personnel from Tangent Fire also responded to the incident.
