Interview with Karl Lippard
« on: June 30, 2011, 04:40:54 PM »
This fellow is the one responsible for the controversial "Combat NCO 1911", the heavily modified 1911 supposedly designed to serve the role of an "offensive pistol" out to 600 yards. Neat idea and all. Doesn't exactly ring practical to me, though the patent on his redesigned beefed up barrel link interests me a little.

In this interview hosted by James B. Towle (never heard of the dude) he expresses some interesting views about the state of affairs regarding the American gun manufacturing/retail market. I don't know a lot about the guy, and I don't doubt the guy's accomplishments in the competition realm, albeit most of them took place more than a couple decades ago.

He strikes me as an arrogant ass, though a lot of these types strike me that way.  :-X

Thoughts anybody?

I seriously doubt the capability of ANY pistol at 600 yds. This is considered a long shot even for the M-16. Even the Mark 23 Mod 0 Socom, which was designed from the ground up as an offensive weapon was only meant to be used at ranges of 50 yds or less.

Admittedly, since I am at work and without sound, I didn't watch the interview, but a 1911 at 600 yds? I want to know what cartridge is being used, cause it can't be a .45. I'm pretty sure at that range I could do more damage by throwing a round at you.
I am a member of my nation's chosen soldiery.
God grant that I may not be found wanting,
that I will not fail this sacred trust.

I'll restate my opinion, any one who claims a .45 acp round will be effective at 600 yards is full of crap.
Any one who says pistol length iron sights will allow consistent accuracy at 600 yards is equally full of crap.
Any one who tells you that HIS modifications change this, without adding 20 grains of powder or a scope is attempting to scam you and should be investigated by who ever handles fraud in that area.
Didn't you folks learn ANYTHING from the mortgage collapse ?
If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Could that explain why it's taking so long to get my 16.8 million dollars from Nigeria?  I gave them my bank account number but it hasn't shown up yet.

It just takes time, BAC.  I got mine, but I found where to send my account number to get on the "fast track".

PM me with your account number and I'll forward it to the right channels.

Believe me, I know without a doubt that this guy is a nothing but a snake oil salesman. I more wanted to point out his odd views about the gun industry, which he believes is in dire straights. Which all in all is a bit confusing...
