He appears to have been using two separate holsters: A 5.11 Thumb Drive and also a SERPA. Switching holsters would not have caused the discharge if he had been following proper technique with the trigger finger.

I totally agree however if you're going to use a mechanical retention holster I feel like you should choose one make/style and stick to it. Not even for preventing ND's but just for redundancy in training. You don't want to get into a stress situation and have to stop and think, is it my thumb or trigger finger that will get me in the fight. Pick on style and train with it. Using 2 different systems on the same day is just stupid, but not as stupid as shooting yourself in the leg.

It would be instinced to grip the gun harder to free it from the holster.  I think thats why he curled his trigger finger.  I've experienced something like this with a drill motor.  The drill bit gets hung up and instead of releasing the drill you tighten your grip to keep it from spinning the motor and twisting your wrist.  It only takes a time or to to remember to just let go.  But I agree i use the same type holster with all my guns.

Some people drive well while drunk, those 2 probably can't do that either  ;D
Aye, boyo, I can "aim" a car with the best of them. Its spelling while sober where I have problems. Yet note the miracle of technology. My new 'puter has a built in spel lcheck. You'll have to make fun of content, not spelling, from here out. ;D
