Warhawke update
« on: July 11, 2011, 04:25:25 AM »
Haven't been posting, been busy with life and work.

I did however finish writing a book, my first (first finished, about 1,000,000th started)
151,485 words
325 single-spaced pages (836 in the wife's favorite hardcover-style computer reading format)
90 days to complete

I am currently having a friend proofread it (my English is worse than my American)
I have to have someone approve it (the wife already has, and she had issues with some of it, but still likes it as a book)
Someone on the forum is reading it now (and who MAY report on it)
Everyone who has read it likes it so far (at least mostly, some issues with the NC-17 rating) and a few absolutely Love it.
I am producing an edited version that should go down to a PG-13 rating
It is very weird, as one would expect coming from me Sci-Fi/philosophy/fiction/romance/porn (the librarians are going to be stroking out trying to figure out where to put it)
If I do manage to sell it not only can it have sequels but several of the sub-plots will make good books (movies, TV shows, etc.)

I will keep you all updated.

Warhawke -

Very cool, congratulations! Keep us posted. Hopefully we're witnessing the birth of another Lights Out!   ;D

But then, you would have to publish part of the story here . . . .    ;)

Congratulations.  Look forward to it.

BTW:  Bookstores might have problem figuring which section it would go under, but for librarians it would be a snap.   LOC of course would just assign you the next catalog number.   DD system would file it under Fiction by your last name.  No sub-category would be necessary.

Way to go Warkawke!

In college I was told that you should expect to produce three edited pages per full time day, and you averaged 3.6.  Great job!

This is the American dream alive and well right here on DRTV - Set a goal to provide for yourself and your family, work hard and see it come true.  I like your continued goals for this project as well.  I can see the next Stephen Hunter exploding right out of here.

My only question is - Does this book require or benefit from a blender full of Hazarittas  ;D

That's cool, since I only got to write seriously for 3 days a week, with maybe 3 or 4 hours total the other 4 days. I also had a couple weeks where I couldn't write at all due to other commitments. I had no idea I wrote it this fast until I checked my Facebook postings, I had posted the day I started writing. I will admit though, I do need a proofreader because my command of English grammar is limited thanks to the efforts of the Detroit Public School System.

I do hope to get it published, I think it is a good book that shows some important lessons I have learned in my life and which others might benefit from. Thanks for the encouragement guys.

I have found out I cannot edit out the sex without so damaging the story it loses much of it's appeal, I'm not saying it can't be done, just that I can't do it. I a publisher wants a PG version, they are going to need a good editor. As far as needing alcohol to read, no, it is mind-bending enough on it's own.

So far I have collected 3 rejections from literary agents, which is cool, hell I used to get a lot of rejections before I found the ones who realized how great I am :D

I have started a blog to my greatness (or lack thereof) http://warhawkeishere.wordpress.com/
and I am now working on book #2

Now, if I could just hit the lottery!
