Very Knowledgeable Babe !
« on: July 14, 2011, 05:22:22 AM »

She has a lot of firearm disassembly and maintenance videos, and she knows what she's talking about. Not too hard to look at either. I like to see women doing this sort of thing.  Bill T.

She is a cutie !  ;D
The way I do it is to remove the takedown pin while the slide is still under pressure, then remove the spring, guide rod etc from the bottom, after the slide has been removed.
I understand that you can't do it that way with a full length guide rod, although I have never dealt with one myself.

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

FQ, It's a variation on the SVD Dragonov sniper rifle that dates back to the 60'sIt's not exactly an AK but it's already a 600 yd rifle, and there are at least 2 variations of the concept on the surplus market.
%Red Jacket seems to specialize in Saiga products so they may start with this

The other 2 are

The Dragonov   http://centerfiresystems.com/DRA-GUN-B.aspx

                             http://centerfiresystems.com/AKAGUN-VEPR-54R.aspx

There were also a bunch from Yugoslavia the M-70 I believe it was called that were available in 8mm for around $700 But I could not find a listing for them tonight.

......   wow   nice.

I like a lot..
Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. The only thing you can’t do is ignore them

Honestly she does a better job with her Springfield than I do with mine. All my .45's have scratches on them.

I got rid of that stupid screw in guide rod. It just worked loose after 100 or so rounds. I used the magazine lip to hold the spring down or a nice LaRue 45 tool that somebody gave me if I'm home at the bench.

Question: Why do the makers of 1911's melt on the edges of the pistol and sharpen the damn plug?

So the wrench won't slip off and scratch the finish.
Or let things under spring tension go pinging across the room.    ;D

Nope, The new plug has a textured top and no sharp edges.

Besides shooting the plug around the garage is one of the few games I get to play these days.
