Of the choices listed...Security Six all day long. Within a coupe of weeks of turning 21 way back in the late 70's, a 6" stainless model was the second handgun I ever bought(the first was a Ruger MK1 bull barrel, I still have both). Through the 80's I shot PPC alot so it has had sh**loads of rounds through it, both factory and some very questionable reloads. Despite this, if I were to polish it up you would have a hard time telling it from new.

I still look for reasonable Service Sixes and Speed Sixes at every gun show and pawn shop I go to. I would like to eventually have one of each...just because

4" Nice looking slightly lighter in color wood grips
6" Darker wood.

So if you we're presented with a choice of a 4" GP-1000, SP-101 or the Security Six?
Which one goes home?

If discreet carry is a primary consideration, get the SP-101. If hunting or target shooting are your main uses I'd suggest the 6" SS. If an all-around sixgun is needed/desired, get the four-inch SS and don't look back. The Security/Service/Speed-Six family has been one of my favorite handguns since shooting my first in the early 80's. My younger brother's Speed-Six has umpteen rounds through it. We stopped keeping tracking at 10k and that was in the 90's.

Have owned several over the years, currently own a Police Service Six in .38 Special.  Can't beat em.  Wish Ruger would have kept them in the line up.

I've recently obtained a short barrel Speed Six in .38.  Had the local smithy slick it up.  Super house gun!
