Hi, My name is Hazcat…
« on: March 19, 2008, 02:19:09 PM »
I have been addicted to DRTV for over a year.

I can’t even remember how it started.  I must have been surfing the net one day while intoxicated with the smell of gunpowder and Hoppe’s #9.  In any case in a moment of clarity I decided to ‘sign up’.

Then I fell in with others who like me, couldn't control themselves, DDmack, Jaybeth, TomB, Outlaw, and many, many others too numerous to name, but you know who you are.

Then there are the facilitators of this most powerful of addictions, MB, Marshal and Marshal’ette (yes, DRTV uses women to ‘hook’ us in).  They make it look so easy!  Just one post, “maybe you’ll win a shirt”.  Then comes the big lure, guns, guns and more guns!  “One more post and this one of a kind beauty could be yours or you can try for our next give-a-way”.

Yes my friends, they actually call them ‘give-a-ways” when they know it will really cost us in ammo and accessories.

I have now posted over 1400 times and still have not kicked the habit.  DRTV is an insidious addiction that has no known cure and as far as I know no one is even working on one.

Well, that’s my story, I’m sure many of you have one very similar.

God help us all.

Lord grant me the serenity to accept the guns I cannot have,

I can certainly relate Haz. Not a clue how I got here. It may have started when I first applied for my CCW. I've got a long ways to catch up with you on posts, but I looked at the log and I've spent 1 day, 2 hours and 32 minutes and counting. My wife complains that I'm on the computer too much. My boss at work gives me grief also. It is addicting...But man it's great!!!!! ;D

And ditto on the 3 M's being a great team....

I'm in on the group hug. Like many here, I have an LEO background, and some of my fellow members have had run-ins with the rotten kind I served to replace. While that generates "spirited" differences of opinion in certain areas, we all love and cherish our 2ND Amendment freedoms, as well and in addition to all the rest. I have learned much, shared much and had real goosebumps at the depth of feeling experienced here with y'all. If I need it and can't find it, someone here knows where to go. If I break it, somebody knows how to fix it. Need a training CD? Got it. Music? Yep! Cigars? Yep! Thanks to you all.

Hazcat, as I've said before, I sleep better knowing you prowl the area where my daughter lives and works. See you down there on the range one day.

ps. Don't remember how I got here either, but I bounce around the gun forums for info all the time. As Haz said, DRTV has a very attractive allure, and some great guys as well..  Mac.

Howdy Haz, I too find myself coming here often. It's the first place I check out after I get home from work. I found out about it from the Marshal's other site,CASCity, which is another great gun site if you're interested in the old west & Cowboy Action Shooting. I really don't see a need for a cure for coming here, It's a great place with great people.

Great nations rise and fall. The people go from bondage to spiritual truth, to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency, from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependence, from dependence back again to bondage. Where are we now??????
